This is one of the gems from the Decca promo box, though I missed it during the initial scan through when I bought the collection. Both sides of the record are there (on separate single sided 12″ discs) and it was release on Tempo in 1958, catalogue number TAP 20.
Jimmy Deuchar was Dundee born and raised and as well as leading his own bands, was strongly associated with Tubby Hayes and Ronnie Scott and the rise of British modern jazz in the late 50’s and early 60’s. The recent resurgence of jazz, especially in London has raised the profile of people like Jimmy Deuchar again. This Tempo release is pretty rare (and relatively unknown) and subsequent to my acquisition of the records, a copy did sell on discogs for £900. This makes the valuation of the pair of promo discs slightly difficult, but they are a great thing to have in the collection.
